The Reality Capture Technician is part of our Reality Capture & BIM (RCBIM) program management team, responsible for accurately collecting and documenting a wide range of field information using a variety of methodologies, including manual and laser measurement, CAD drawings, BIM models, data applications, photography, and others as applicable. The Reality Capture Specialist is responsible for executing on-site assignments and completing production deliverables. Additional responsibilities include communication and documentation of time and expenses, following safety protocols, and professional interaction with clients and client customers in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates LIDAR scanning equipment to document visual and dimensional data at project sites.
- Utilizes survey tools (laser, tape, scanner, etc.) to accurately gather, verify, and document dimensions.
- Accurately registers laser scan point clouds using various software.
- Collects existing conditions data from building sites and provide photographic documentation.
- Identifies and documents key specifications for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment as necessary.
- Creates existing condition drawings with AutoCAD or Revit based on the scope requirements.
- Provides quality assurance review of drawings and create redline correction sets.
- Prepares and delivers survey reports in accordance with company & client requirements.
- Ability to identify efficient and effective methods for documenting existing conditions on each assigned project.
- Provides field and office technical support to Reality Capture Technicians.
- Communicates roadblocks to line of business leadership and provides potential solutions to accomplish assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Follows safety protocols to protect their health and safety, that of others around them, the client’s property, and the equipment used on each project.
- Follows company guidelines for administrative tasks such as timesheets and expense reporting.
- Ability to travel by plane.
- Ability to lift extension ladders to access roofs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and insurance (or insurable if renting a vehicle)
- Must be able to rent a car.
- 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience conducting building/structural surveying.
- 5+ years of experience creating building drawings and construction layouts using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Knowledge of point cloud data and workflow using Recap, and or Cyclone software.
- Knowledge of commercial building design standards, building methods, details, and materials
- Knowledge of ADA standards preferred.
- FAA Part 107 License preferred.
- Proficient in computers, scanners, photogrammetry, mobile technology, Microsoft Office applications, video conferencing and cloud storage systems.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly independent and strong attention to detail; must be able to work under deadlines.
- Experience demonstrating professional customer service interactions.
- Ability to independently manage travel schedules and accurately track & record expenses.
- Demonstrates time management skills without direct oversight.
Work Conditions & Travel:
- Travel required (nationally, 70-80%)
- Travel independently or with partners for extended periods in various geographies and demographic areas (urban, rural, etc.)
- Must be flexible, adaptable and able to work with fluid schedules and working conditions
- Able to climb a building roof ladder and comfortable with heights
- Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Must maintain a professional appearance and interact with on-site customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Able to work on your feet indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.

Pay & Benefits:
The anticipated compensation range for the position is $25 - $32/hr, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, flexible paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, and a matching 401K plan.
