The Civil Engineer II is a member of the engineering design team who works alongside a group of individuals to provide civil engineering services within a dedicated design team. A design professional accountable for supporting the team in producing accurate design and construction documents for our multi-site clients and supporting other team members in achieving team goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs assignments under direction and supervisory approval of others for all projects.
• Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.
• Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.
• Assists Sr. Civil Engineer in the completion of civil engineering design calculations.
• Applies client’s program requirements and design criteria to existing buildings and structures.
• Responsible for maintaining project schedules, deadlines, and commitments for projects of varying sizes and complexity.
• Possesses a working knowledge of civil engineering principles, building codes, land development codes, and ADA requirements.
• Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning, engineering, land development code, and building code requirements.
• Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.
• Assists the project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions to the construction documents.
• Adheres to CAD standards and follows assigned drafting protocol across all projects.
• Engages in personal and professional growth opportunities within Sevan.
• Accountable for timely completion of assigned projects.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently on simple to moderately difficult projects.
• Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A Civil Engineer with a 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent or
• 4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and advanced techniques.
• Expertise in drawings, specifications, and building materials.
• Capable of completing moderately difficult engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
• Ability to execute and coordinate multiple projects at a time, of various scope and duration, and can quickly change direction to meet aggressive deadlines.
• Experience in small site land development in the restaurant and retail sector required; multi-site project experience preferred.

Work Conditions & Travel:

This is a hybrid role out of our Downers Grove, IL headquarters or Dallas, TX office, but may be remote based. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. The workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, and flexible. Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage time effectively with multiple projects and deadlines. Travel on an as needed basis (0-10%). Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Pay & Benefits:

The anticipated compensation range for the position is $80,000 - $95,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, flexible paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, and a matching 401K plan.
