Project Design Lead, Construction

Department: Architecture & Engineering
Location: Fayetteville, AR

The Project Design Lead is a member of our architecture and design studio who works collaboratively to provide architectural services to Sevan's clients for construction and design programs. The Design Lead is accountable for producing accurate design and construction documents for our a Big-box retail client and other client programs, and supporting other team members in achieving team goals. This is a remote based position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.
  • Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.
  • Responsible for determining the appropriate building components and their design application.
  • Responsible for maintaining project schedules, deadlines and commitments for all projects.
  • Coordinates work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
  • Notifies supervisor of changes in project scope and advises if a change order proposal is needed.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements.
  • Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning and building code requirements.
  • Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.
  • Project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions to the construction documents.
  • Oversees staff architects, designers and technicians.
  • Review / evaluate others work and provide productive feedback and technical direction.
  • Eligible for Designer of Record signing and sealing responsibilities, based on business need.
  • Works with supervisor and peers to pursue professional development.
  • Participates in the development of more junior members of the team.
  • Participates in NCARB’s Architectural Experience Program (AXP) Program.
  • Engages in personal growth using Sevan’s I-PDCA process.
  • Accountable for timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision on large-scope projects with many complexities.
  • May represent the company at client project meeting and visit project sites to verify scope, exiting conditions and other related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent; master’s degree preferred.
  • 7 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit (required), Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet. 3ds Max is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of architectural building design, infrastructure, principles, and advanced techniques.
  • Familiar with MEP systems and structural systems.
  • Expertise in drawings, specifications, and building materials.
  • Capable of completing complicated and difficult architectural assignments and large, complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to execute and coordinate multiple projects at a time.
  • Experience of multi-site commercial projects in the retail and restaurant industries, preferred.
