The Senior Estimator is responsible for the overall project estimates to national, multi-site construction projects. The Senior Estimator will have proven success bidding to clients in the restaurant, grocery, residential, and fuel/convenience industries. The Senior Estimator works with our clients, architects/engineers, subcontractors/ suppliers, business development team, and others to plan cost factors for construction projects; analyzes construction documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects by performing the following duties. As a Senior Estimator, you will also provide leadership, training, and mentorship to teammates and interns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
- Compile, gain approval for, and carry out estimating project approach. Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Solicit subcontractor and supplier bids and interface with their representatives to receive responsive bids prior to bid letting.
- Scope and tabulate subcontractor and supplier bids for conformance with bid documents to aid in determining the value of the work.
- Compile and manage RFP/RFQ process.
- Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team
- Identify escalation factors in marketplace for specific materials and labor rates
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested.
- Cross collaborate with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment of the cost estimates.
- Assist with prospects/clients contact to obtain bids and confirm pricing.
- Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Maintain relationships with clients and pursue business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Cost Estimating certification strongly preferred or equivalent certification training. (ICEAA's Professional Cost Estimator/ Analyst (PCEA) or AACE's Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or ASPE's Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or ICEAA's Certified Cost Estimator/ Analyst (CCEA).
- 10+ years commercial/ retail construction experience with a combination of project management and estimating.
- B.S. degree in Civil or Architectural, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and an Onscreen Take Off program such as ProEst, BlueBeam, etc.
- General knowledge and use of programs such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, Revit, Microsoft CE, Smartsheet, Egnyte, MS Publisher are a plus.
- Full understanding of multi-site commercial and retail construction means and methods.
- A history of producing accurate onscreen take-offs, estimates, and proposals.
- Experience auditing the completeness and accuracy of other team member’s take-offs, estimates, and proposals.
- Experience with PorEst is highly preferred.
- Experience with federal, state government, DoD RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and related solicitation documents.

- Willingness to work in non-standard business hours as needed for proposal response and review timelines and willingness to travel occasionally.
- Ability to manage multiple task orders simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with competing priorities, conflicting deadlines, changing instructions, and strong personalities.
